Looks like those rumors of a live-action taken on alt-history, sci-fi, action-comedy Gintama have proven to be correct. Not just that an adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi’s manga was in development, but also that Shun Oguri (star of live-action adaptations of TerraFormars, Lupin III, Crows and Hana Yuri Dango) will lead as curly haired samurai Gintoki Sakata. 

Yuichi Fukuda, director of the live-action adaptation of Jump series Hentai Kamen, will helm the film.

News is revealed in next week’s Shonen Jump issue 31, which also has Gintama on its cover.
