Naruto Spinoff Itachi Shinden-hen Hits Japanese TV In March 2016



It’s time to pass the baton to a new Hokage.


The latest issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed that Naruto spinoffItachi Shinden (The True Legend of Itachi) will hit Japanese airwaves in March 2016.


The series was first unveiled earlier this month under the title Naruto Shippūden: Itachi Shinden-hen ~Hikari to Yami~ (Naruto Shippuden: The True Legend of Itachi ~Light and Darkness Chapters~). The seires will adapt a pair of novels by Takashi Yano: Itachi Shinden: Kōmyō-hen (The True Legend of Itachi: Glory Chapter) and Itachi Shinden: Anya-hen (The True Legend of Itachi: Dark Night Chapter).


As of press time, cast and crew details on the series are still unknown. TV Tokyo released a visual for the project, which contains the tagline “In Spring 2016, the True Arc Begins.”



 

Shueisha released author Takashi Yano’s Itachi Shinden novel in two parts. The Itachi Shinden: Kōmyō-hen (The True Legend of Itachi: Glory Volume, pictured below left) novel shipped on September 4, and the Itachi Shinden: Anya-hen(The True Legend of Itachi: Dark Night Volume, pictured below right) novel shipped on October 2.

Itachi Shinden and Sasuke Shinden were the first two installments in the Naruto Shinden (NarutoTrue Legend) novel series. Sasuke Shinden (The True Legend of Sasuke) shipped in November.


Shueisha previously published six Naruto epilogue novels earlier this year: Kakashi Hiden, Shikamaru Hiden, Akatsuki Hiden, Gaara Hiden, Sakura Hiden, and Konoha Hiden.
