It’s really happening. Fans of Gintama can now rest a little easier, because that live-action movie is for real.
After much speculations, the cast for the live-action film adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi’s parody manga, Gintama, were finally revealed. Previously, it was announced that Lupin III actor, Shun Oguri, will be playing the lead role of Gintoki Sakata. Now, the rest of the cast has now been revealed:

Joining Oguri are Masaki Suda as Shinpachi Shimura, Kanna Hashimoto as Kagura, Masami Nagasawa as Tae Shimura, Masaki Okada as Kotaro Katsura, Tsuyoshi Muro as Gengai Hiraga, Yuuya Yagira as Toshiro Hijikata, Ryo Yoshizawa as Sougo Okita, and Kankurou Nakamura VI as Isao Kondo.
Gintama Cast for Live-Action Revealed for Yorozuya, Shinsengumi, & More
Previously, the domain name, Gintama-Film.com, was registered to Warner Bros. Entertainment. This sparked rumors of the live-action Gintama movie, and as it turns out, those rumors really are true. The film is slated to premiere in 2017, with the the live-action Hentai Kamen’s Yuuichi Fukuda directing.
Photos of the live-action movie adaptation’s supposed movie set also surfaced in Kyoto.
