Anime Series Like Edens Zero

At Granbell Kingdom, an abandoned amusement park inhabited by machines, Shiki, the sole human, has lived among them since he was a young child. One day, another human named Rebecca comes to Granbell Kingdom with her feline companion Happy. Rebecca set out to make a good video for her B-Cube channel, but ends up becoming friends with Shiki and ferrying him off planet instead. Together, they set out on a journey through space and time to make interesting videos, make friends, and find the elusive goddess Mother that dwells somewhere in the universe.

Hiro Mashima only wants to write one type of story, doesn’t he? Either way, it keeps getting better each time! If you are looking for more anime recommendations like Edens Zero, then head on down below.

For Fans of ADVENTURE!

Fairy Tail

While looking to enhance her magic, celestial mage Lucy meets an energetic fire mage name Natsu. After finding out he is a member of the famous wizard guild Fairy Tail that she has long admired, the pair travel home so Lucy can join. Together with her new guildmates, Lucy and Natsu embark on adventures to help people, make money, and explore their vast magical world.

…Edens Zero, as everyone has said, is just Fairy Tail in space. Similar character designs, similar plot development, similar comedy. Even the powers are just magic presented in a different way.

Rave Master

With the advent of the Dark Brings, a portion of the world was destroyed by an event brought on by their power. Now, an organization called Demon Card seeks their power for nefarious means. Haru Glory, a teenage swordsman, has recently inherited the title of Rave Master, a person who can wield Rave Stones capable of destroying the Dark Brings. Together he gathers friends and allies as he travels the world to find these Rave Stones.

Before even Fairy Tail, Hiro Mashima created Rave Master. Edens Zero is the culmination of what he has learned and liked in both series. Like with Fairy Tail, you also see a lot of crossover from Rave Master as well, most notably those shaky snowman dogs. On top of that, Rave Master, like Edens Zero has a bit of a younger feel to it, like it was made to appeal to younger shounen fans.

Radiant

The world is ravaged by monsters called Nemeses. These demons fall from the sky and cause complete destruction to everything around them. In their path are Sorcerers that can defeat them. Seth is one such Sorcerer that seeks to destroy every Nemesis. He travels with his friends to destroy the near-mythical source of these monsters – Radiant.

Both series follow very predictable plot lines and have the same type of character tropes. That’s not to say it is a bad thing though, they are repeated because people like them. Radiant is flashy and action packed, with a large cast of interesting looking characters.

Black Clover

After being abandoned at the same church, Asta and Yuno grew up together. Together they also grew up aiming for the same title – The Wizard King, the strongest wizard in the kingdom. However, it soon became apparent that while Yuno has skill with magic, Asta couldn’t use it at all. However, this all changed when they were attacked and Asta was given a strange grimoire that granted him the ability to nullify magic.

I feel like Edens Zero and Black Clover have the same initial problem. They both felt like generic shounen adventure stories at first. Black Clover grew grand and intense later on while the future remains to be seen for Edens Zero. Regardless, both series create vast and interesting worlds, clearly putting some time into the creation of its magics.

For Fans of Questing for Friendship

Hunter x Hunter

Twelve-year-old Gon Freecss is determined to become a world-class Hunter, a skilled individual that performs all manner of dangerous tasks, just like his long-absent father. However, Gon finds that the path to achieving his goals is more challenging than he could have ever imagined, but in order to overcome it, Gon recruits some powerful friends.

Both series are very much shows where young and naive characters set off on a journey. Hunter x Hunter seems similarly young like Edens Zero at first, but it can unexpectedly bring the darkness when it wants to.

Magi

After spending his life in isolation, Aladdin and his djinn Ugo set off on a journey to see the world. Soon after, he becomes friends with Alibaba, a young merchant that has ambitions of wealth, after he destroys his supply cart. In order to pay of the damages, Alibaba suggests the supremely powerful Aladdin helps him conquer a dungeon full of danger and wealth.

Although Edens Zero is space-faring and not in the slightest inspired by Middle Eastern lore, what it and Magi share is an adventure story. They are both shows about a young character who is very strong, but also knows very little of the world – or universe – around them.

One Piece

With his dying breath, legendary Pirate King Gol D. Roger let the world know about his treasure, setting in motion the Grand Age of Pirates. Among the many crews that set out to look for the legendary One Piece treasure is Monkey D. Luffy, a young man that has assembled a rag-tag crew to sail the Grand Line and hunt down One Piece.

One of the charming things about Edens Zero is it showed off a lot of interesting characters as it explored the universe. One Piece, while limited to one planet, doesn’t let that stop them with the variety of their character designs. Battles keep getting bigger and characters keep getting weirder.

For Fans of Space Exploration

Astra Lost in Space

Each year, the students of Caird High School are placed in groups for Planet Camp. When group B5 land at their camp site, they are engulfed by a mysterious sphere of light that transports them into the middle of space, 5,000 light years away from home. After discovering an old space ship, they begin their very long journey home.

While Astra Lost in Space is more traditionally sci-fi, like Edens Zero it has the characters visiting a series of different planets that each has its own special considerations. However, Astra Lost in Space isn’t really a battler, but instead focuses on character drama and a small mystery plot.

Space Dandy

The universe is a vast and strange place, full of even stranger beings. For a man named Dandy, his job is to travel around and register new species for a reward. What should be an easy job is made less so by a series of odd coincidences that happen along the way.

If you enjoy silliness, slight ecchi, and a huge array of odd alien creatures, Space Dandy is a solid show to follow up Edens Zero with. However, it is distinctly a comedy show, so expect less battles and more abstract oddness.

Bodacious Space Pirates

Young Marika keeps herself busy with a job at a retro cafe in the space yacht club. However, one day two strangers approach her, claiming to be the subordinates of her dead father, and demand she take command of the space pirate ship Bentenmaru. As an agreement was made after the war of independence a century ago that the ship must be inherited by the captain’s next of kin, Marika begins her exciting new life as a space pirate.

While Edens Zero has the better plot and more action, it is still about a young character taking to the stars like Bodacious Space Pirates. It even shares the same light ecchi. If you enjoyed kind of silly and light-hearted sci-fi, Bodacious Space Pirates is actually pretty great. Just don’t go into it expecting something mind-blowing.
