Yoshihiro Nishimura Film “Torakage” Promises Violent Ninja Action

Yoshihiro Nishimura is at it again, this time serving as creator, writer, director, editor, creature designer, and special effects / make-up supervisor for the upcoming ninja film, Torakage, also known internationally as The Ninja War of Torakage.

In Torakage, Takumi Saitoh plays the titular character, a retired ninja who is trying to live in peace with his family during the Sengoku Period, only to get roped into a dangerous mission when his son is held for ransom. You can check out the trailer by visiting the official Torakage web site here.

Despite the serious tone of its posters and trailers, early reviews from the film festival circuit suggest that Torakage is Nishimura is up to his usual high-concept, low-budget tricks, as evidenced by the completely period-accurate ninja represenation pictured above.

Honestly, would you expect any less from the director behind Tokyo Gore Police and Helldriver?

Torakage hits Japanese theaters on June 20, 2015.
